Stop the presses! Katherine Heigl puts on a breakthrough performance in her upcoming movie, The Ugly Truth. According to the synopsis,
A romantically challenged morning show producer (Heigl) is reluctantly embroiled in a series of outrageous tests by her chauvinistic correspondent (Gerard Butler from 300) to prove his theories on relationships and help her find love. His clever ploys, however, lead to an unexpected result.
I haven't personally seen it because I don't watch movies which don't include random song and dance scenes on mountaintops in Nepal despite the fact the rest of the movie takes place in south India. And also, the movie hasn't been released yet. But just from reading that synopsis this sounds like it's going to be a ground breaking role for Katherine Heigl!
Usually, Miss Heigl plays some frigid bitch who is always the victim in some relationship with a chauvinistic guy, and inevitably she screams a lot and cries even more until things end happily ever after. But this movie sounds like it's going in a whole different direction. This time she's working with a chauvenistic coworker who puts her through a series of improbable antics until she screams and cries and ultimately resorts to abusing the fact that she's attractive and blonde and not past 35 to get what she wants and live happily ever after. Brilliant! And as for that unexpected result they mention in the synopsis...hmmm...I wonder if her and King Leonidas end up fucking? Well we won't know until July 24th, 2009 when the movie is officially released!!! I'll never know, however, because I would rather choke on a chapathi than watch Katherine Heigl act bipolar for 2 hours.
