According to the New York Post, former actress Mischa Barton was "involuntarily" admitted to the psychiatric unit at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center just hours before she was to fly to New York for the premiere of her new movie, Homecoming.
"Cops took her to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was hospitalized under Section 5150 of the California Welfare & Institutions Code, which allows authorities to hold a person for up to 72 hours if they present a danger to themselves or to others.
Barton, 23, looked bloated and almost unrecognizable at a public appearance last week, which her reps blamed on the removal of a wisdom tooth."
Wisdom tooth my ass. Anyways, this thing could have been extremely embarrassing if anyone actually cared. The fact is, most people don't even really remember who the hell Mischa Barton is. I watch an extraordinary amount of tv because all the chicken tikka masala in my belly makes it hard to move, and all I know about Mischa Barton is that she used to be on the O.C. and now currently she is working as a whore. I just find it peculiar that she gets admitted to a psych ward just hours before she's supposed to attend the premiere of her new movie. And again, I haven't even seen a single commercial for this upcoming train wreck.
And here's another bit of coincidence. Her character in the new movie is someone with psychiatric issues (she plays a jealous girlfriend who goes berzerk on her ex-boyfriend when he returns from college with a new girl). It makes you wonder if this whole thing was staged. I'm certain that the producers knew well in advance that her making headlines for acting psychotic was the only way they could get any real advertising.
