Bollywood Superstar Confused for Terrorist

According to the Associated Press:

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was detained for two hours for questioning at a U.S. airport before being released by immigration authorities, a news agency report said Saturday.

Khan, one of the Indian film industry's biggest stars, said he was detained because his name came up on a computer alert list at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, Press Trust of India news agency said.

Now I am only an Angry Indian Auntie and I am not familiar with what irony feels like. I know what back pain feels like from carrying large sacks of rice. I know what hunger and envy feel like from watching other people eat that rice. Irony is not an emotion I am regularly exposed to. But Mr. Khan was coming to America was to shoot a movie about a Muslim guy getting harassed and racially profiled over his name. The name of the upcoming movie is “My Name is Khan.” Even I know this is ironic.

What is not ironic is the stupidity of the immigration officials at Newark Airport. Shah Rukh Khan is known to pretty much every Indian alive. There were even random ass Indians in the airport who were trying to vouch for him. One could have typed his name into Google and in 0.31 seconds cleared up this mess.
